Shi Thead Politicians

The current breed of pol is quite amazing – doesn’t matter which party.  Though, there are a few of  a new breed that might actually care.  Most are of the tribe of the Shi Thead.  Many suffer from Cranial Rectal Inversion – or CRI.  I mean, how hard is for one to step back and see that the more government does the worse our economy grows.  While it is true that some poor individual may not get some deserved service, it is more true that the masses are getting run over by the bureaucratic steam roller.  Who cares about us – the masses, that have to pay under duress, for the steam rolling???  Want more jobs, you tribe of the Shi Thead?  Get started dismantling the BBS and then we might actually be able to plan to bring more people back to work.

The tribe of the Shi Thead pols can’t seem to look up and see that the more they do the worse it gets.  It is obvious, from a macro-economic view, that the trajectory of the economy is inversely related to the growth in government.  It is really obvious the last three years since the bailout has begun.  All of the promised economic miracles that were promised if the gov to action have failed – miserably.  They have us, the masses, in a hole and demanding that we keep digging.  Which one of us, even from our disadvantaged hole, can’t see that we should stop digging.  Adding more government BBS is not going to get us back on top of a firm economic footing.  All we want is to go to our kid’s soccer games and hit the Big Mac on our way home.  But no, soccer is demeaning to the losing side and a Big Mac is unhealthy.  Do I really need some Pol or Bureaucratic smuck to tell me that the loser feels bad?  Do I need some Pol to tell me that it would be better to eat a healthy meal at home?  Wouldn’t I love to live the Leave It to Beaver life style?  I could if it didn’t take two incomes and then some to pay for all the taxes that the various govs extract from all layers of society.  I would not eat at the Big Mac if I could stay home and cook for my kids.  But at over 50% tax burden on the average family who can???

My husband and I own a small biz.  Lucky us.  Want to trade??  Employees actually ask to be laid off so that they can collect 99 weeks of unemployment.  Who knows what workers comp., unemployment tax, FICA, SUTA, FUTA and now the new Obama Care is going to cost.  We would love to hire more people, but what is it going to cost?  We would love to add new products, but who can navigate the Bureaucratic BS (BBS) to get them approved?  Want more jobs, you tribe of the Shi Thead?  Get started dismantling the BBS and then we might actually be able to plan to bring more people back to work.  While you’re at it, do something about tort reform.  How much time do we waste and how many decisions are based on the likely hood of being sued.  If you are in biz, it is not a question of if, but when.

Yeah, I know, I’m just whining.  The gov is good, I know.  At least that’s what I’m constantly told by all of the PSA’s that the Propaganda Press keeps putting out.  What news media doesn’t constantly remind me of this?  If the Pols and Bcrats want to concern themselves with my self-esteem, quit telling me that to lose a soccer game is bad for my self-image.  Quit telling me we should play and not keep score.  If they are really concerned about my self-esteem, quit telling me that I should do anything, as if I am not smart enough to know what is good for me.  Do they think I am going to start smokin’ dope if it were legalized?  Do they think I am going to ram my head into a brick wall if I don’t have on a helmet while riding my bike to work (because I can’t afford the gas).  I mean, how dumb to the Pols, Bcrats and Damn-do-gooders think I really am.  Get them out of my face and I just might feel better about myself – and for that matter, everyone else.  And besides, if I want to kill my self while on a bicycle smokin’ a joint who’s biz is it of theirs.  I didn’t ask you to take care of me in the first place.  Maybe if you would stop trying to take care of me, I might make better decisions.  But hey, if the net is under the wire, maybe I’ll just go for a spin on the “high” d/rope.

But alas, maybe the pols aren’t of the tribe of the Shi Theads.  Maybe they are right.  Maybe we the masses do need someone to take care of us.  After all, WE KEEP RE-ELECTING THEM.

Your Politician Will Talk to You

This is a repost.  Several friends have asked for this again.  Want your politician responsible to you and not K Street or the Moneyed Interests?  Read on.

Our Constitution (on the federal and state levels) fails to address two fundamental flaws in our Republic:  1)  politicians are beholden to the moneyed interest, and  2)  our politicians have learned Karl Marx’s idea that allows the masses to vote themselves a check from the treasury via these politicians.

Simple to fix if we can find a governor or federal senator with enough character to offer two constitutional amendments.  This will most likely begin at the state level.  With enough states ratifying these amendments maybe our federal politicians will see the light or our governors may have the strength to call for a Constitutional Convention.

So what do these simple amendments look like?  First - “All politicians may raise campaign funds only from districts they represent and only from individuals within those districts.  They may only serve two terms.”  Second, “Our budgets must be balanced.  The current real level of all spending will be ???? (fill in the number that applies to the state or federal budget).  All spending from all sources will not exceed this number until: a) the budget is balanced, and b) all debt is repaid.  Once all debt is repaid and the budget is in balance from all sources of spending and revenue, then the budget may rise only as much as receipts rise.”

With these simple amendments we the people could once again retain control of our politicians and our profligate political spending.  How much of our political malaise and economic stress would disappear?  If we have the political will to get this done we may avert some horrendous economic and political problems on the horizon.

The Poor We Will Always Have With Us – The Parties Want It That Way

Cicero has given up on the two ruling political parties.  Cicero has left the church – any church – for the same reason.  They want the poor to be always with us.  Have you noticed that there has been only one recent White House administration that has reduced the roles of the poor in our country?  What has the church, any church, done for the poor lately(more later)?  There is a reason the Clintons did not get a second shot at the White House.  After all, if it weren’t for the poor being continually bombarded by the propagandist media (PM), they might actually begin to believe that maybe the government contributes to keeping them poor.  Instead the PM convince the poor that they are poor because someone has made them that way and the government is here to rectify the situation for the poor.  Have the poor ever considered that the more the goverment does the more there is added to their number.  Hello!!!

The middle class is complicit in this in that they are asleep – or worse – too narcisistic to care.  Yet, care they better.  The wealth that is being redistributed is not coming from the rich.  Never has, never will.  Marginal tax rates are a ruse the PM spits out incessantly to muddy the issue.  Rich don’t pay Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid tax.  YOU DO!!  15% of your pay check goes to this every payday on top or your tax rate.  FIGURE IT OUT!!!.  20% Federal Income Tax PLUS 15% FICA, don’t forget state taxes.  Voila, 35% of your pay – you the middle class.  How much do you think the rich or political elite pay?  We know the political elite pay what they want and get away with it.  After all, they control the budget of the IRS.  Want to keep your job, don’t look too close at a politicians tax return.  As for the rich ruling elite – off shore accounts, multiple layers of businesses, lawyers and tax accountants – they pay very little.  All the while the middle class thinks they only pay around 20%.  WAKE UP.  DO THE MATH WITH YOUR NEXT CHECK.  The only wealth being redistributed is yours – the middle class.  You work your -ss off and think the politicians are going to stick it to the rich and that the goverment will take care of the poor.  You, the middle, class are taking care of the poor.  The harder your work, the richer the rich get and the more power you give the pols to make you work even harder with even less pay.

Oh, the conservatives will fix it.  Well, think about that the Repubs had both houses and the presidency for 6 years.  Did the government grow less oppressive?  Of course it did.  Did the numbers of the poor decrease?  Off course not.  Why do you think the mantra of the repubs is reduce TOP marginal tax rates?  How about reducing the 35% the middle class pays?  It is true that the super rich pay most of the personal income tax.  This is indisputable.  But where did they get the wealth in the first place?  From the labor of the middle classs.   Cicero is not a socialist or marxist.  But Cicero is sure as hell against the current marriage of big biz and the government.  Most jobs get created by small businesses and then big biz swoops in and puts small biz out of biz.

In the Carter Administration banks were allowed to branch across state lines.  What happened to your local banker?  Yep, that’s right, he ain’t around no more.  Who got all the bailout dough?  Hmmm??  Oh, that’s right, the big banks that had gobbled up as many local community banks as the could for the last 30 years.  Do you think there would have been a banking crisis two years ago if Carter had vetoed the act that allowed cross state line branch banking?  Probably not.  Did the big bonuses to bankers go away with all of  the “new” regulation?  They are actually larger.  The new Fin-Reg bill should be called Fin-Rigged.  More fees, higher interest rates, more regulation on small banks they can’t afford while the five lagest banks are reporting near record profits.  The pols all talk about how they want community banks to lend again.  Even comrade Obama is dribbling on about this.  Yet, ask any banker why they are not lending and the answer will be – they don’t have time to talk to their customers because they are answering regulators questions ad naseum.  Ask why small biz is not asking for loans to expand.  The will tell you that the burden of regulatory compliance and the unknown of Obama Care scares the new jobs out of them.  Pols talk the talk and fund the behind the scenes madness of regulatory oppression.  Why??

Glad you asked.  Over regulation drive small biz out of biz and that makes the big boys happy.  More flies for the fat frogs to comsume.  Again, the middle class is becoming the new poor which gives more power to pols.  The pols fund the oppression of the masses to drive the wealth to the rich who already have more than they need.  Check this little fact out – has wealth been spread more evenly across America over the last four decades since LBJ?  No!!  WEALTH HAS BEEN CONCENTRATED AT LEVELS NEVER SEEN IN AMERICA INTO THE HANDS OF THE FEWEST PEOPLE EVER!!!  Get it??  The more regulation we allow the pols to enact, the richer the rich get.  Farms will become corporate, manufacturing will become – oh wait – already is – government/corporate, retail will deminish because the middle class IS deminishing, masses will be concentrated into smaller and smaller geographic areas (don’t want to spoil the view of the rich), simply put – America, the land of the oppressed, the home of the fearful.

As for the Church in America.  Does the world know or care anymore?  What have they done for the poor lately??  Would we have the political morass we are in if the church had done its job??  Shoot Cicero if you would like, but the truth won’t change.

Born to Serve the State

Does anyone remember the phase, “… a citizen is born to serve the State.”  Our country was born by states to serve the citizen.  States were born out of the citizenry’s desire to form a government to facilitate the freedoms of its people.  These States United were born to form a government to facilitate the States’ commerce and protection.  Have we lost the thought that governments do not govern its people, but facilitate peoples freedom.  Government is ancilliary to the People, not primary.  People have the right to change or modify a government that is nolonger suitable to their wishes or purposes.  Current commentary in the press and by politicians treat “Government” as if it was an entity unto itself.  They treat it as if it were primary and citizens were subjects.  I am not advocating revolution or overthrow or any such violent expulsion of government.  What we need is a re-awakening of the primacy of citizenry.  As citizens we have an obligation – yes, that is the correct term, however unpopular – to gather, discuss, call into question, hold accountable those to whom we have entrusted with OUR governance.  We can nolonger sit by, self absorbed, in our daily business while our freedom is being subsumed into some kind of intended governmental primacy.  To do so is to voluntarily hand over ourselves to a life of serfdom.  Many have asked what we can do.  The Tea Party movement is a start in the right direction.  Of late, however, it has allowed infighting and subsumation into the Repulican party to bend its course.  We nolonger can consider ourselves as party affliates of any party.  Party apparatus is two sides of the same coin.  Practically, we need spontaneous civil protest.  Become aware of every little and large issue coming before any political body.  If soccer, your lawn care, recreation, even money is getting in the way of standing up – physically standing in public places where political bodies gather – then we are doomed to allow the fall of what we say is our “beloved” States United.  Forget about waiting for someone to call you to action.  You be the caller to action.  But, I forget, we might have someone not like us.  I reckon then, you will be liked by those to whom you have given your emotional well-being.  Alas, another well liked pawn in a game played without our permission, yet using us as board pieces.

Two Principles for the Republic

Our Constitution (on the federal and state levels) fails to address two fundamental flaws in our Republic:  1)  politicians are beholden to the moneyed interest, and  2)  our politicians have learned Karl Marx’s idea that allows the masses to vote themselves a check from the treasury via these politicians.
